Get Help Finding a Job

The Ticket to Work Program can connect you with employment-related services, such as training, transportation, and vocational rehabilitation. If you are 18-64 years old and get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), you automatically qualify for Ticket services. To get started, contact a Ticket to Work provider like Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Services, the Iowa Department for the Blind, or an IowaWORKS office.

If you are blind, have low vision, or are deafblind, the Iowa Department for the Blind can help you reach your work, education, training, and independent living goals. IowaWorks posts thousands of job openings statewide, and allows you to search for disability-friendly jobs. It also has online workshops and resources to assess and improve your skills, including help with resumes and interview skills, and research to help you find your next career.

The Iowa Workforce Development website offers a Career Exploration and information page that lets you learn about different jobs in Iowa and get detailed information about Iowa's labor market.

MyNextMove.org by the U.S. Department of Labor helps you find your ideal career path based on your interests and preferences.

MySkillsMyFuture.org helps workers who have been laid off or are looking to change careers find careers that use similar skills.

O-Net Online lets you learn about different careers and labor markets, and understand your own skills and interests.

Ticket to Work

Social Security’s Ticket to Work Program helps people with disabilities who get Social Security benefits re-enter the workforce and become more independent. The Ticket to Work Program offers free access to employment-related services, such as training, transportation, and vocational rehabilitation.
