What it Covers

If you get Medicaid for Employed People with Disabilities (MEPD), it will pay for a broad range of medical services. If you’re not sure if a particular service is covered by MEPD, or if you need prior authorization, ask your doctor or your MEPD managed care program.

Here is a list of the main services that MEPD provides:

• Doctor visits
• Chiropractic care
• Emergency room services
• Ambulance services
• Hospital services (inpatient and outpatient)
• Rehabilitative services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy
• Labs and X-rays
• Medical equipment and supplies
• Pregnancy and postpartum services
• Prescription drugs
• Home health services
• Hospice care
• Dental care
• Podiatry
• Skilled nursing facility care
• Mental health services
  
• Substance use disorder services
• Eyeglasses
• Hearing aids
• Non-emergency medical transportation

For children under age 21, Medicaid also provides:

• Dental screening and treatment
• Vision exams and glasses
• Hearing exams and hearing aids
• Other Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) services

Depending on your situation, MEPD may cover some long-term care services, including nursing homes. Contact your local Health and Human Services (HHS) office for more information.
