What It Covers

If you get Medicaid, it will pay for a broad range of medical services. If you’re not sure if a particular service is covered by Medicaid, or if it requires prior authorization, ask your doctor or your Medicaid managed care program.

Depending on your circumstances, Medicaid may cover some long-term care services, including nursing homes. Contact your local Health and Human Services (HHS) office for more information.

More Services through Medicaid Waiver Programs

People who qualify for disability-based Medicaid may also be eligible for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) through Medicaid waiver programs. These programs pay for additional services that help people live in their own homes if they might otherwise have to live in an institution, like a hospital or nursing facility.
